What the fuck! First my surgery was rescheduled because someone didn't do their job and order the right medicine. Then I show up on the right day at 7:30 am and have a bunch of tests done, I will not go into detail on that, but let's just say it wasn't pretty, and I had needled in places that hurt like hell. Breast cancer isn't just a pretty pink ribbon, it's a hell of a lot more! Okay, sorry back on topic.
My surgeon, who by the way is amazing and very handsome, was held up in another surgery and wanted to postpone mine because he didn't want me sitting at the hospital all day without food and water, but the nurses failed to call him so I was there until 6:30 pm when he was able to arrive. I was scheduled to have surgery at 12:30. When he showed up he wanted to know where my images were. None. I was there all damn day and supposed to have mammogram after some other tests and it was never done. So, he was pretty pissed. Anyway, the mammogram got done and then I was taken to surgery.
This was my second time to have anesthesia and I was scared. It's a scary feeling being wheeled into the operating room and being hooked up to all that shit with only a bunch of strangers around you and some guy who is getting ready to cut you open and take out a chunk of tissue.
The OR nurse had been stationed in Alaska so we had a lot to talk about and he helped me stay calm. I woke up in the recovery room and wanted to know if Alabama was winning. This was the night of the National Championship!
Anyway, a few hours later and I was sent home. Not feeling great, but not feeling as bad as I thought. My surgeon removed two lymph nodes and a mass 4cmx5cmx3cm. I have two scars. One on my breast and one in my armpit, and that one hurts like a pain in my ass!
The pain is pretty manageable and not as bad as I thought it would be. Now we wait for the final pathology.
